The Prince Edward Island Rifle Association has been an incorporated body since 1861, making it the oldest governing sporting organization on the Island. It has held and sanctioned competitions continuously since that date with the exception of the war years of 1914-1918 and 1939-1945. During the first 100 years members used military rifles and shot in service conditions. Today the single shot target rifle bears little resemblance to its military forebears. Recently, F-Class Target, and Recreational style shooting have been added and this has been our fastest growing area of membership.
